Cascada is a German dance music group. They were formed in 2004 in Bonn, Germany. The founding members were lead singer Natalie Horler (born in 1981 in Bonn, West Germany), and DJ’s Manuel “DJ Manian” Reuter (1978, Bonn, West Germany) and Yann “Yanou” Peifer (1974, Bad Kreuznach, West Germany).
Horler met Reuter and Peifer while recording vocals for various DJ’s in Germany. They teamed up and formed a music group originally called “Cascade”. However, they were forced to switch their name to “Cascada” (Spanish for “waterfall”) due to legal threats by American DJ Kaskade. The three German musicians released music under a whole slew of other aliases, including "Siria", "3XM", and "Phalanx", but stuck with Cascada since that seemed to bring them the most success.
They signed with the label Andorfine Records, with whom they produced two singles that were released in Germany. One of those early tracks, “Miracle”, caught the attention of the American label Robbins Records. Not only did they release Miracle in the US as well, but they helped them produce the single “Everytime We Touch” with US audiences in mind. That single came out in 2005, and became a massive success, reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Given its success, the band named their debut album after their first hit - the EDM record “Everytime We Touch” was released in March 2007. It peaked at the #3 spot on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic albums chart, #67 on the famous overall Billboard 200 chart; while reaching #2 on the OCC chart in the UK as well. The Eurodance group even got to go on their first international Cascada concert tour, the “Everytime We Touch Tour”.
Since then, Cascada has released 3 more studio albums, thus they have 4 in total. The best selling one among them has remained their first, “Everytime We Touch” from 2007, which sold around 400,000 copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Cascada album came out in June 2011, with the title “Original Me”.
The biggest hits in the Cascada setlist to date are the aforementioned “Everytime We Touch” (2005), “Last Christmas” (2007), and “Evacuate the Dancefloor” (2009). Check where the next Cascada concert is playing near you on our page above.
