3 Doors Down is an American rock band from Escatawpa, Mississippi. Formed in 1996, the rock band’s musical style ranges from post-grunge to alternative rock to hard rock. 3 Doors Down attained immense success in the early 2000s.

Brad Arnold (lead vocals & drums), Matt Roberts (lead guitar), & Todd Harrell (bass guitar) initiated the musical group as its members. Their unusual name was coined from observations during their visit to Foley in the state of Alabama. They saw the “Doors Down” sign on one of the buildings but realized the letters had dropped from the top. Since the group had three members in its beginning stage, the number was simply added to their name.

After taping demos in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1997, the course of the band’s life was altered by the prominent play of their song "Kryptonite" on the local radio station WCPR-FM. Later in 1998, rhythm guitarist Chris Henderson completed the classic lineup by adding himself to the group.

Their debut album "The Better Life" was unleashed in February 2000. It was a phenomenon. It achieved the remarkable sales of septuple platinum in the United States, selling more than seven million copies. It was ranked the eleventh best-selling album of 2000. Their singles like "Kryptonite," peaking at the third position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, received the Best Rock Song nomination for the Grammy award.

The group experienced many issues in the 2010s. Founding guitarist Matt Roberts left the group in May 2012 because of health reasons, only to pass away in August 2016 from an overdose of prescribed drugs at the young age of 38. Even worse is the fact that their bassist, Todd Harrell, was arrested for vehicular homicide in April 2013 for killing someone while he was intoxicated behind the wheel. Harrell was sentenced to two years in prison before being permanently let go from the group in 2014. Chet Roberts and Justin Biltonen took their place on guitar and bass.

Their performance for Donald Trump during the 2017 Presidential inauguration was contentious amongst their fans. However, the band justified the act by saying it was all in the name of the presidency rather than politics. This is because the group had previously performed during the Bush presidential inaugurations. 3 Doors Down has six albums in their repertoire.
