Armandinho Biography

Born in Salvador, Brazil, and extremely famous within the Brazilian popular music genre, Armando da Costa Macêdo, also known by his stage name, Armandinho is a singer and composer. He is the son of Osmar Macêdo from the pioneering Trio Elétrico de Dodô e Osmar. In the 1940s, his father, along with Adolfo Nascimento, created the Guitarra Baiana, an electric cavaquinho that inspired the Trio Elétrico's name.

Armandinho began his musical career with his bands Trio Elétrico Mirim in 1962 and Hell's Angels in 1967.

In 1977, Armandinho formed the band A Cor do Som with Dadi, Mú Carvalho, Ary Dias, and Gustavo Schroeter. The group got famous because of songs like "Beleza Pura" by Caetano Veloso, "Abri a Porta" by Gilberto Gil and Dominguinhos, and "Zanzibar" by Armandinho and Fausto Nilo.

Since then, Armandinho has recorded and performed with various musicians, including Raphael Rabello, and Pepeu Gomes. He also continues to play with his own group, Trio Elétrico de Armandinho.
