Ascendant Vierge Biography
Ascendant Vierge is a French electronic music group made up of Mathilde Fernandez and Paul Seul. Paul Seul, part of the gabber collective Casual Gabberz, remixed a track from Mathilde's EP in 2018.
She considered it the best song on the record and the two began collaborating in 2019. Paul handles the instrumentals while Mathilde takes care of vocals.
Their sound is generally described as lyrical or melodic techno, sometimes called "cyberpunk." The group named themselves based on their astrological signs — Paul is a Virgo and Mathilde is a Gemini with a Virgo ascendant.
In 2020 they released the cyberpunk aesthetic video for "Influenceur," which gained popularity during the French COVID lockdowns. Their debut EP "Vierge" came out in October of that same year.
They performed at several festivals, including Nuits Sonores, We Love Green, and Dour Festival. Their debut album "Une nouvelle chance" was released in April 2023.
