BLACKPINK Concerts Setlist

Blackpink, written as 블랙핑크 in Korean and often stylized as BLɅϽKPIИK, is a South Korean pop, EDM, and hip hop group. They were formed in 2016 in Seoul, South Korea. The founding and only members to ever be part of the group are vocalist Jisoo (born in 1995 in Gunpo, South Korea), rapper and vocalist Jennie (1996, Seoul, South Korea), vocalist and dancer Rosé (1997, Auckland, New Zealand), and dancer, rapper, and vocalist Lisa (1997, Buriram, Thailand).

The four girls in Blackpink were originally recruited in a training program by the entertainment company YG in 2010, among many other young teenage girls. The company first announced the upcoming formation of a new girl group in 2011, originally intended to have 7 members. However, for reasons unknown to this day, their debut only came 5 years later, and with 4 members, as opposed to 7. Jennie was the first Blackpink girl to be introduced, in June 2016. The 3 others soon followed. All four of them had show business experience already, having appeared in music videos and TV series prior.

Blackpink’s debut single album, “Square One”, was released in August 2016, consisting of two tracks. It rose to the top of the Gaon chart in their home country of South Korea, while also reaching the #2 spot on Billboard’s US World Digital Songs chart. The same month, their first Blackpink concert show aired live on the Korean TV channel SBS. In 2018, they launched their own reality show, “Blackpink House”, on the V-Live channel. The same year, also in 2018, they got to go on their first international Blackpink concert tour, the “Blackpink Arena Tour 2018”.

Their first international hit single was “DDU-DU DDU-DU” from 2018, which peaked at #55 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart in the US. Their debut studio album came out in October 2020, simply titled “The Album”. It topped the Gaon chart in Korea, while also reaching the #2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart in the US. Since then, they’ve only put out 1 more album. The new Blackpink album, “Born Pink” was released in September 2022, and became the best selling record by a Korean girl group, having sold over 2 million copies worldwide.

The biggest Blackpink hits to date are “BOOMBAYAH” (2018), “DDU-DU DDU-DU” (also 2018), “Kill This Love” (2019), and “Ice Cream” (2020) featuring Selena Gomez. Over the years, the Korean pop group has broken many records, including the one for the most viewed music video on YouTube within the first 24 hours of release, twice: with “Kill This Love” in 2019, and “How You Like That” in 2020. However, that record has since been broken by fellow Korean band BTS.
