Bush is an English rock band. They were formed in 1992 in London, United Kingdom. The founding members were lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Gavin Rossdale (born in 1965 in London, UK), lead guitarist Nigel Pulsford (1961, Newport, UK), and bassist Dave Parsons (1964).
Rossdale used to be part of another rock band, “Midnight”. However, he left them in 1991. The same year, he met Pulsford (formerly of the band “King Blank”) at a Bryan Adams concert at Wembley. Sharing a similar taste in music, they befriended each other and decided to form a new band. Originally called “Future Primitive”, they recruited Parsons to join the new project. The next year, drummer Robin Goodridge was on board too. Soon after, the band released their debut single, “Bomb”, and also singed a record deal with the American label Hollywood Records.
Their debut album came out in December 1994, with the title “Sixteen Stone”. By that time, the band’s name was changed to “Bush”. They chose that moniker since the members used to live in Shepherd's Bush, London. However, Hollywood Records dropped them before their debut’s release, and they had to make ends meet by doing manual labor in the US before Interscope Records picked up the abandoned project and published it on their own dime. It was worth it for them, since the record became a massive success, peaking at the #187 spot on the famous Billboard 200 chart in the year of its release in the US but later even reaching #4, while also climbing to #42 on the OCC chart in the musicians’ home country of the UK.
Since then, the British rock stars have released 7 more studio albums, thus they have 8 in total. The best selling one among them has ultimately become their first album, the aforementioned “Sixteen Stone”, which ended up selling 6.9 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Bush album came out in October 2022, with the title “Art of Survival”.
In 2002, Bush announced their official break-up, which was brought on by declining record sales. However, the band was back together by 2010, playing their first Bush concert show after their reunion in September of that year at the Epicenter Music Festival in Fontana, California. However, only Rossdale of the original line-up returned. Currently, the band consists of lead singer Rossdale, lead guitarist Chris Traynor, bassist Corey Britz, and drummer Nik Hughes.
The biggest hits in the Bush setlist to date are “Glycerine” (1994), “Comedown” (1995), “Swallowed” (1996), and “The Sound of Winter” (2010). Check where the next Bush concert is playing near you on our page above.
