Christopher Maurice Brown is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. He was born May 5, 1989 in Tappahannock, Virginia. Brown taught himself to dance and sing as a child, with Michael Jackson being his main inspiration. He also started singing in the local church choir.
At age 13, he was signed by Hitmission Records, a small local production company. They gave him vocal training and produced a demo tape for him. Brown then traveled to New York in search of a record deal. He initially declined his first offer from Def Jam, searching for a better deal and ultimately going with Jive Records.
His self-titled debut album, the R&B and soul record “Chris Brown” came out in November 2005. It became a massive hit, peaking at the #2 spot on the famous Billboard 200 list. The standout tracks on it were “Run It!” and "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)". The next year, in 2006, he also got to go on his first nationwide Chris Brown concert tour, the “Up Close and Personal Tour”.
Since then, Brown has released 9 more studio albums, thus he has 10 in total. The best selling one among them remained his first one, “Chris Brown” from 2005, which sold 3 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Chris Brown album came out in June 2022, with the title “Breezy”. His reputation has been greatly tarnished after he pled guilty to a domestic violence charge in 2009, for abusing his then-girlfriend, fellow R&B and pop superstar Rihanna.
The biggest hits in the Chris Brown setlist to date are “With You” (2007), “Look at me Now” (2011) featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, “Loyal” (2014) featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga, and “No Guidance” (2019) featuring Drake. He was also featured on the 2012 hit single by rapper Pitbull “International Love”. Check when the next Chris Brown concert is playing near you on our page above.
