Erol Evgin Concerts Setlist

Born in Istanbul's bustling streets in 1947, Erol Evgin wasn't your typical pop star. This guy graduated from Istanbul's prestigious high school and the State Academy of Fine Arts before jumping into music. His 1969 debut single "Sen-Eski Günler" kicked off something special in Turkish pop. Working with legends Çiğdem Talu and Melih Kibar, he helped shape what Turkish pop would become. But Evgin wasn't content just being a singer.

He turned out to be quite the actor too. Between 1980 and 1984, you could catch him commanding the stage in "Hisseli Harikalar Kumpanyası" - not just once or twice, but 400 times. Then he went and performed "Şen Sazın Bülbülleri" another 200 times, just to prove he had the stamina.

Movies? He did those too. Starring roles in musicals such as "Meryem ve Oğulları", "Renkli Dünya", and "Bir İlkbahar Sabahı" demonstrated he could do it all — sing, act, have readers and viewers wanting more. Evgin also showed that Turkish entertainment could go through all borders from being a fine arts student to a pop pioneer to theater star. His work with Talu and Kibar laid the cornerstones of modern Turkish pop, and his stage performances kept the classic theatrical forms alive.
