Fergie Duhamel, born Stacy Ann Ferguson and best known by her stage mononym Fergie, is an American singer and actress. She was born on March 27, 1975 in Hacienda Heights, California.

Growing up in suburban California, Fergie had a very peaceful childhood. She was raised in a Catholic family. She was a straight-A student and a cheerleader in high school.

Her first foray into show business wasn’t in music - she lent her voice to a character named Sally on the Peanuts cartoons as a child. She was also a longtime cast member on the Disney Channel show Kids Incorporated.

At age 15, Fergie, along with Kids Incorporated co-star Renee Sandstrom and Stefanie Ridel, formed the girl group Wild Orchid. They released a total of 4 studio albums between 1997 and 2003.

2002, however, brought a major change in Fergie’s career. While the hip hop group The Black Eyed Peas was recording their third album “Elephunk”, they invited Fergie to sing some vocals for their single “Shut Up”. They were so impressed with her work that they invited her to join the group. That partnership became very lucrative right off the bat, as Elephunk ended up selling 9 million copies in the US alone upon its 2003 release.

Fergie and The Black Eyed Peas released 4 studio albums together. They produced such hits as “My Humps” (2005), “i Gotta Feeling” (2009), and “Pump It” (also 2009).

In June 2017, however, Fergie announced her departure from the world famous hip hop group. J. Rey Soul took her place as the female vocalist. While Fergie never publicly commented on the reasons for her decision, insiders confirm that it was because she wanted to focus on her solo career as well as being a good mother to her son Axl.

As a solo artist, Fergie has put out two albums so far: one in 2006 while still being part of The Black Eyed Peas (titled “The Dutchess”); and one in 2017, titled “Double Dutchess”. Her biggest solo hits are “Big Girls Don’t Cry” (2006), and “M.I.L.F.” (2017).
