Gala Concerts Setlist

Gala Rizzatto, better known by her stage mononym Gala, is an Italian pop singer and songwriter. She was born on September 6th, 1975 in Milan, Italy. She travelled to the United States as a teenager to study at an art school in Boston, Massachusetts. After moving to New York City, New York and getting a degree from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, she originally started working as a photographer.

She also recorded her first demo tape while still in the United States, and sent it back to Europe for music labels for consideration. Her demo contained the song “Freed from Desire” which later became an international hit, and is still being played in soccer stadiums around the world for goal celebrations. The song was published by the Italian indie label Do It Yourself Records in 1996.

That song made her a star in Italy immediately, and she was even voted Best Female Singer in Italy by Musica e Dischi magazine the same year her first hit came out. Gala’s debut album “Come Into My Life,” which was released in November 1997, charted very high in other European countries as well, such as Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

Since then, she has put out 4 more full-length studio albums, thus she has 5 in total. However, the success of the first one, fueled by “Freed from Desire,” could not be repeated by Gala. The latest new Gala album came out in February 2015 with the title "Singles V1" and it only consists of remixes of her old hits.
