Gustavo Mioto, the Brazilian musical powerhouse, grew up in Votuporanga with a dad who's one of Brazil's biggest sertanejo music entrepreneurs; yet, he did not stop trying to create his own way, even as a gas station attendant in his teens. But talk about an early start: by age 10, he'd already written his first song, "É Você Quem Vai Chorar," and was posting videos of his performances on YouTube. At 13, while most kids were stressing out over middle school drama, he toured Brazil with the band Oxigênio—playing everything from proms to Hawaiian parties.
His 2012 debut album "Fora de Moda" got things rolling, but it was "Impressionando os Anjos" that really put him on the map, shooting to number one on Brazil's Top 100. Then "Com ou Sem Mim" dominated Brazilian radio in 2020, proving he wasn't just a one-hit wonder.
That didn't stop the hits from coming, with projects such as "Referências," on which he shared the stage with sertanejo legends Bruno & Marrone, and DVDs sharing the stage with Brazilian stars like Jorge & Mateus and Anitta. During the COVID pandemic, he showed his heart by hosting charity livestreams to benefit UNICEF.
Forbes took notice, too, slating him on their 30 Under 30 list in 2020. His 2021 album "Inconfundível" cracked Spotify's global top 10, featuring a collaboration with the late great Marília Mendonça.
