Highly Suspect Biography

From playing Hendrix covers in Cape Cod bars to Grammy nominations, the rise of Highly Suspect further reveals how raw talent and persistence can cut through even today in rock. Formed back in 2009 by twin brothers Rich and Ryan Meyer and Johnny Stevens, they spent plenty of dues playing covers around, including a British Beer Company.

Those early days of bar bands forged them together, putting out a string of EPs documenting their maturation from "First Offense" to "The Worst Humans." Working with producer Joel Hamilton and Gojira's Joe Duplantier on "Black Ocean" refined things and set the stage for their breakthrough.

That all changed with their 2015 debut "Mister Asylum". That very original energy of the album and Stevens' unmistakable vocals earned them two Grammy nominations, while singles like "Lydia" and "Bloodfeather" dominated rock radio. 2016's "The Boy Who Died Wolf" proved they weren't one-album wonders, with "My Name Is Human" topping the Mainstream Rock charts and earning another Grammy nomination.

2019's "MCID" saw the band continue to break the mold with some awesome and unexpected hip-hop collabs, though always retaining their core as a rock band. "The Midnight Demon Club" in 2022 and 2024's "As Above, So Below" revealed a band still in evolution, now with Matt Kofos adding new textures on guitar and synths.

From Cape Cod bars to sold-out shows, Highly Suspect's story stands as proof that authentic rock and roll can indeed break through during the streaming age. They stick to their raw energy, ever pushing their sound forward.
