Famous for being one of the pioneer pop rock bands in Brazil, Jota Quest is a Brazilian band founded in 93 in Belo Horizonte. The band's first name was J. Quest, but due to some trademark issues, the band members decided to change the name to Jota Questa (In Portuguese, the word Jota means J). Very popular for their pop rock with soul influences, the band reached peak popularity in Brazil and collaborated with many other heavy-weight artists like Milton Nascimento, and Roberto Carlos.
A very interesting fact is that the band's name, Jota Quest, is inspired by the cartoon Jonny Quest. The pop rock band started by playing in bars and pubs in their hometown, Belo Horizonte, By 96, the band signed their first record deal and straight released their first album. One year later, one more album was out, "De Volta ao Planeta," which was a huge success and had hits like "Fácil."
By 2001, the band returned to their roots with "Discotecagem Pop Variada." During the early 2000s, at the peak of their success, the band worked on many projects like "MTV ao Vivo: Jota Quest" live in Belo Horizonte, featuring Arnaldo Antunes and the rapper Thaíde. The band also contributed to the soundtrack of the film "Spider-Man 2."
In 2008, Jota Quest released "La Plata," and by 2010, their first Spanish album, "Dias Mejores," in Argentina. By 2010, Celebrating 15 years, they announced the "J15 - 15 Anos na Moral" tour, featuring a three-hour show.
