Ludmila Oliveira da Silva, better known by her stage name Ludmilla, is a Brazilian singer and songwriter. She was born on April 24, 1997 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ludmilla was abandoned by her father while she was still a baby. This led to much financial trouble for the family, and her mother, who worked as a samba dancer and dance instructor, went hungry many days just so that her daughter could eat. Ludmilla was singing at family gatherings ever since she was a child.

In 2012, she started to upload videos of her music to YouTube, under the username “MC Beyonce”. Evidently, her biggest idol was American R&B singer superstar Beyoncé. Her videos initially received little attention. However, at a party, she was approached by a music producer who was looking for a vocalist for his beats. The young singer ended up performing an early little Ludmilla concert in front of that party audience, and her singing was received positively by the crowd.

Encouraged by the experience, she met up with music producer Roba Cena, who she knew through her uncle. They produced her debut single, “Fala Mal de Mim” (which translates to “Speak Bad Things About Me” in English) together. Her debut EP by the same name came out in 2014, when she was still just 17.

In 2013, she was forced to drop her original alias “MC Beyoncé” for obvious trademark issues coming from America. That is when she started going by her stage name “Ludmilla”. Her first album came out under that new name in August, titled “Hoja” (“Today”). It became a massive hit, selling over 600,000 copies in her home country of Brazil.

Since then, the Brazilian pop diva has released 3 more albums, thus she has 4 in total. The best selling among them remained her debut record. Meanwhile, her latest new Ludmilla album came out in April 2020, with the title “Numanice”.
