Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, María Becerra is one of the most prominent singers from the country's urban pop scene. She started by uploading videos on YouTube, and after that, she embarked on her music career. María launched her first EP in 2019, named "222." One year later, in 2020, María signed with her first record label and released the album "Animal." By 2024, María was the first Argentine female singer to perform at River Plate Stadium.
Since an early age, María Becerra was into music and took performing arts classes at her school. Throughout struggles during her childhood, María saw music as her strength and decided to upload song covers and comedy videos to the digital platforms Facebook and YouTube when she was only 12, with some of her videos going viral quickly.
In 2019, María decided to stop posting on YouTube to focus on her career, she gained popularity with singles like "Dime Cómo Hago," which entered the Argentina Hot 100. In 2020, already signed to a record label, she released the remix of "High," featuring Tini and Lola Índigo. One year later, reaching major success in her career, she worked on projects with other some global artists like J Balvin.
By 2022, she performed at the Latin American Music Awards and the Grammys with J Balvin and released a new album called "La Nena de Argentina." María's second album brought a lot of innovation just like her first one, bringing to the table bachata and reggaeton genres. In 2023, she set a record with 43 entries on the Argentina Hot 100 and became the first Argentine female to sell out Estadio Monumental.
