Oliver Tree Biography

Picture a guy in a bowl cut and JNCO jeans who turned viral memes into musical gold - that's Oliver Tree, a Santa Cruz kid who went from playing in ska bands to breaking streaming records. When his cover of Radiohead's "Karma Police" got Thom Yorke's seal of approval, it was just the beginning of one of music's most colorful stories.

Before all the fame, Oliver was just another kid playing in a ska band called Irony. He tried the whole college thing too, studying business for a couple years, but music was always his thing. Around 2010, he started making beats under the name "Tree" (pretty creative, right?). His big moment came when Thom Yorke from Radiohead gave his "Karma Police" cover a nod of approval. But instead of riding that wave, Oliver did something unexpected - he hit pause and went back to school to study music tech.

Fast forward to 2016. He drops this song called "When I'm Down" with Whethan, and boom - it goes viral. Atlantic Records came calling, and suddenly the guy who used to make dubstep in his bedroom was signing with a major label.

It should be mentioned that Oliver is a little crazy--in the very best of ways. For one of his video, he spent five months learning Monster Trucking and jumping. He also holds the official world record for the largest-ever kick scooter. I mean where does this guy's head go off to?

These days, he's touring all over the place. He just announced this massive world tour that's hitting Australia, Europe, and the U.S. Not too shabby for a guy who's famous for looking like he got his haircut with a bowl from his mom's kitchen.

The cool thing about Oliver? He never tried to be cool. He just did his own thing, made some wild videos, and somehow turned being really, really weird into his superpower.
