Peggy Gou Biography
Peggy Gou (In Korean: 페기 구), whose real name is Kim Min-ji (In Korean: 김민지), is one of the top trending tech house and deep house DJs. She comes from South Korea, born in 91, and is considered one of the most prominent EDM DJs. By 2019, Peggy Gou founded her independent label, Gudu Records, and released a DJ-Kicks compilation. "I Hear You", her debut album, was released in mid-2024.
Born in Incheon, near Seoul, Peggy Gou developed an early interest in music, starting with piano. She later moved to London to study English and returned to study fashion. She began DJing in 2009, influenced by a friend in Korea, and played her first party at Cirque Le Soir in Soho. By 2013, she started using Ableton Live to create her own tracks, completing her first track, "Hungboo", one year later.
Peggy Gou made her debut at the Style Icon Awards in 2016, less than seven years after getting into DJing. By 2017, she had her first North American tour and a Boiler Room debut in New York City. She became the first Korean DJ to play at Berlin's iconic Berghain nightclub. Her name quickly trended in the EDM scene, leading her to perform at major festivals like Coachella.
By 2019, Peggy Gou's global success was undeniable. Forbes recognized her as one of the top Asian leaders under 30, and her DJ-Kicks compilation reached number nine on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Album Sales chart. Her track "(It Goes Like) Nanana" became a viral hit on TikTok and served as the lead single for her 2024 debut album.
