Geoffrey Royce Rojas, better known by his stage name Prince Royce, is an American singer. He was born on May 11, 1989 in New York City, New York. Royce was born into a Dominican immigrant family in The Bronx. In elementary school, he joined the choir, then, he started to enter local talent shows as a singer. He also began writing poetry.

Royce teamed up with his friend José “Jino” Chusán at age 15 to form a musical duo. At age 16, he changed his music partner: he and Vincent Outerbridge created the new duo “L Snipe & Vinny”. With the help of music producer Donzell Rodríguez, they created music in the traditional Latin music genre of bachata, which originated from the Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, he also took on the stage name “Prince Royce”.

Royce ultimately signed a record contract with the indie record label Top Stop Music as a solo artist. They released his eponymous debut album, “Prince Royce”, in March 2010. It became a hit, topping the chart in Billboard’s Latin Albums category, while also breaking into the overall Billboard 200 at the #77 spot. The lead single on the record was “Stand By Me”, a cover of American soul singer Ben E. King’s 1961 song by the same title. The next year, in 2011, he got to go on an international Prince Royce concert tour, opening for famed Spanish pop singer Enrique Iglesias on his “Euphoria Tour”.

Since then, Royce has released 5 more studio albums, thus he has 6 in total. The best selling one among them has remained his debut, “Prince Royce” from 2010, which sold 600,000 copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Prince Royce album came out in February 2020, with the title “Alter Ego”.

The biggest hits in the Prince Royce setlist to date are “Darte un Beso” (2013), “Back It Up” (2015) featuring Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull, “Deja Vu” (2017) featuring Shakira, and “El Clavo” (2020) featuring Maluma.
