Slant 6 Biography
Slant 6 was an American punk rock trio formed in Washington, D.C., in the early 1990s. Comprising Christina Billotte (vocals and guitar), Myra Power (bass guitar), and Marge Marshall (drums), the band was a notable presence in the riot grrrl and punk scenes of the era. Slant 6's music is characterized by its raw and minimalist approach. Their songs often featured short, fast-paced compositions and politically charged lyrics, addressing issues such as feminism and social justice. The band's ability to deliver intense and empowering performances resonated with the riot grrrl movement and punk audiences.
During their relatively short-lived career, Slant 6 released several records, including the influential album "Soda Pop*Rip Off" in 1994, which received critical acclaim for its raw energy and feminist themes. Slant 6 was known for their DIY ethos, including self-producing their records and booking their own tours. Their music continues to inspire and influence punk and riot grrrl bands today, leaving a lasting legacy in the underground music scene.
