Social Distortion Biography

Formed in Fullerton, CaliforniaSocial Distortion is not an ordinary punk band. The band is considered to be one of the most important bands in the punk rock community, responsible for the creation of a very unique style that emerged from the Orange County hardcore scene in the 70s.

The band is formed by Mike Ness singing and playing the main guitar, Jonny Wickersham playing the second guitar and singing backup, Brent Harding on the bass and also singing backup, David Hidalgo Jr. playing the drums, and David Kalish on the keyboards.

Mike Ness had a huge influence on other early-age punk bands like Sex Pistols

Social Distortion became well-known in the punk rock scene because they toured a lot and put on a lot of live shows during their career. But they really hit it big with their self-titled album in 1990, often called the "black album." It had songs like "Ball and Chain" and "Story of My Life." This album made Social Distortion famous outside of just punk rock circles and showed everyone how influential they were in the punk rock world.

Social Distortion has some really famous songs like "Bad Luck," "I Was Wrong," and their cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." Albums like "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" and "Sex, Love and Rock 'n' Roll" are super popular among rock fans. They show off the band's knack for making intense songs with real emotions. Social Distortion's music still connects with fans who love their honest lyrics and strong guitar-driven tunes.

So far, Social Distortion has put out seven full-length studio albums, two compilations, one live album, and two DVDs. Before signing with Epic Records in 1989, they released two albums called "Mommy's Little Monster" in 1983 and "Prison Bound" in 1988.
