Edgefest is a yearly summer rock festival in Canada, started by staff from Toronto radio station CFNY-FM. The festival usually takes place on Canada Day at Molson Park in Barrie, Ontario, or Toronto. The festival mostly featured Canadian rock bands and had over 300 performers in its 29 years. By 2015, Edgefest was the longest-running rock festival in Canada.
Between 1989 and 1990, CFNY changed management and its music format. The festival continued that year and sold out Molson Park, but many attendees protested the new programming policies. Someone even hired a plane to fly a protest banner over the park. Despite this, the festival went smoothly.
