Alan Eugene Jackson is an American singer and songwriter. He was born on October 17, 1958 in Newnan, Georgia. Growing up in rural Georgia, Jackson's primary musical influence was gospel music, until his high school friend introduced him to the country songs of artists like Gene Watson, John Anderson, and Hank Williams Jr. He began writing his own music at age 15. After graduating from high school, he joined the country band "Dixie Steel". At age 27, he moved from Georgia to Nashville, Tennessee with his wife to try to make it as a full-time country singer.

There, he produced a demo tape titled "New Traditional''. Oddly enough, it was only released in Japan. While trying to make it in the music business, Jackson also had to hold a regular job: he worked at the mailroom of The Nashville Network. His wife met TV host and musician Glen Campbell by chance while working as a flight attendant. She told her about her husband's ambitions, and surprisingly, Campbell agreed to help out. Soon enough, Jackson was signed by the new label Arista Records.

His debut album came out in February 1990, with the title "Here in the Real World". It became somewhat of a hit, reaching the #4 spot on Billboard's country music chart, while also peaking at the #57 spot on the famous overall Billboard 200 chart.

Since then, the prolific country musician from Georgia has released 17 more studio albums, thus he has 18 in total. The best selling one among them is "A Lot About Lovin' (And a Little About Love)" from October 1992, which ended up selling around 6.3 million copies. He went on his first nationwide Alan Jackson concert tour in 1995, the "Fruit of the Loom Comfort Tour". Meanwhile, the latest new Alan Jackson album came out in May 2021, with the title "Where Have You Gone".
