Blue October Biography
Formed in Houston, home to many rock bands, Blue October is an alternative rock and post-grunge band formed in 95. Their latest triple album, "Spinning the Truth Around," released in parts in 2022 and 2023, showcases their ongoing musical evolution. Blue October brought the band's name to a legendary spot in Houston's music scene through the Houston Press Music Awards.
The beginning of the band was very curious and interesting. Justin Furstenfeld, Jeremy Furstenfeld, and Ryan Delahoussaye founded Blue October. Discovered in 1998 by Michael Rand, former Kid Rock manager, After that, under the guidance of A&R rep Reen Nalli, they transitioned to Universal Music Group after impressing CEO Doug Morris. In 96, the band relocated to San Marcos.
Blue October later signed with a major record label in 99 for their second album, "Consent to Treatment," but was dropped only one year later. After bringing C.B. Hudson to the band and partnering with Rainmaker Artists in 2002, they released their third album, "History for Sale." The single "Calling You" gained significant airplay.
"Calling You" marked Blue October's mainstream breakthrough until the 2006 hit "Hate Me". The band gained exposure with performances on late-night TV programs. A very important moment was when they opened for The Rolling Stones. "Hate Me" soared to number two on the Modern Rock Tracks chart, while its music video was extremely successful on VH1's Top 20 Video Countdown.
Blue October's fifth studio album, "Approaching Normal," in 2009 and debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 chart, the album featured two versions with different bonus tracks: "The End" on the explicit version and "Graceful Dancing" on the clean version.
The album "Approaching Normal," had some important songs like "Dirt Room." Another song, "Say It," also made an impact on radio, further expanding the band's reach and recognition within the music industry.
In 2010, the post-grunge band revealed plans for one more album. After recording sessions in late 2010 and early 2011, the album, titled "Any Man in America," was unveiled mid-2011.
Fast forward to 2020, Blue October kicked off the year with the release of the single "Oh My My" at the beginning of the year, coinciding with the two-year anniversary of "I Hope You're Happy." This single previews their forthcoming album, "This Is What I Live For." Justin Furstenfeld showcased other tracks like "The Weatherman", "Fight For Love", and "Only Lost is Found" during acoustic performances and radio appearances.
