Gloria de los Ángeles Treviño Ruiz, better known by her stage name Gloria Trevi, is a Mexican singer, songwriter, television hostess, actress, dancer, and businesswoman. She was born on February 15, 1968 in Monterrey, Mexico. Early in her life, Trevi developed an interest in American and British rock artists, such as Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Deep Purple, and Janis Joplin. She also took ballet classes from her mother. She moved to Mexico City at age 26 where she met music producer Sergio Andrade. He put together the short-lived girl pop group called “Boquitas Pintadas”, that Trevi was a part of. However, it broke up by 1988. That gave way for Trevi to launch her solo career.

Her debut solo album, the pop rock record “¿Qué Hago Aquí?” came out in August 1989. The single “El Último Beso” on this album reached the #36 spot on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart in the US. The album also topped the charts in her home country of Mexico and in other Latin American countries as well. Her second album, “Tu Ángel de la Guarda” from May 1991, was an even bigger success, reaching the top of the chart in the European country of Spain as well. Billboard Magazine included this album in their list of Best Latin Albums of All Time.

In 1996, her career hit a bump after it was revealed that her first manager and music mentor Andrade has spinal cancer. She announced two farewell Gloria Trevi concert shows at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, then retired from touring for an unspecified time to care for her protégé. She returned to the music scene in 2004 with a new album. In the meantime, she also started to appear in movies and host television shows. In 2005, she started doing live Gloria Trevi concert shows again.

Overall, the Mexican pop-rock diva has released 11 full studio albums over her long career. The best selling one among them is "Una Rosa Blu" from October 2007, which sold around 150,000 copies. Meanwhile, the latest new Gloria Trevi album came out in 2019, with the title “Diosa de la Noche”.

Trevi’s biggest hits to date are “Dr. Psiquiatra” (1989), “Vestida de Azúcar” (2011), “No Querías Lastimarme” (2013), and "Más Buena" (2013) featuring Alejandra Guzmán. She is sometimes referred to as "the Supreme Diva of Mexican Pop", or “the Madonna of Mexico”.
