Hailing from Boston, United States, Ice Nine Kills is a heavy metal band, that got popular by their horror-themed lyrics. The band was founded by Spencer Charnas and Jeremy Schwartz in 2000. Ice Nine Kills quickly got signed by a record label and released successful albums like "The Silver Scream." An interesting fact is that the band's name was inspired by the fictional substance ice-nine from Kurt Vonnegut's novel "Cat's Cradle."
The band's name was initially only Ice Nine, but before the release of their first album, they decided to change it to Ice Nine Kills. In 2006, the metal band released "Last Chance to Make Amends," followed by "The Burning" in 2007. The success of their debut album led the band to tour in the United States and open for bands like Paramore.
In 2010, they released "Safe Is Just a Shadow." The album was praised by some music magazines and critics. With their success, the band joined many gigs and events like the Vans Warped Tour and opened for The All Stars Tour. In 2013, the EP "The Predator," came out, followed by their third album, "The Power in Belief," one year later.
In 2015, Ice Nine Kills signed to a new record label and released "Every Trick in the Book," and got featured in the famous Punk Goes Pop Edition 7. Three years later, in 2018, drummer Conor Sullivan left, replaced by Patrick Galante. That same year, Ice Nine Kills released "The American Nightmare" from their album "The Silver Scream," inspired by horror films.
In 2023, the metal band featured on Bayside's single and released "Meat & Greet." In 2024, Ice Nine Kills announced "A Work of Art" for Terrifier 3. The band's drummer, Patrick Galante, left Ice Nine Kills in October 2024.
Ice Nine Kills takes over nearly 300 AMC theaters with a month-long "Welcome To Horrorwood" horror film screening series this October.
