Mabel Alabama-Pearl McVey, better known by her stage mononym Mabel, is a British-Swedish-Spanish singer and songwriter. She was born on February 19, 1996 in Málaga, Spain. Mabel was born in Spain, to a British father and Swedish mother, thus she holds 3 different citizenships. Both her parents work in the music industry: her father is a producer, while her mother is a singer. Mabel originally started writing music in her childhood to cope with her anxiety problem. To help herself, she also learnt to play the piano. For her secondary education, she moved to her mother’s home country of Sweden, where she attended Rytmus Musikergymnasiet, a music school.

After graduating from musical high school, she moved to London, United Kingdom. There, she produced her debut single, “Know Me Better”, which came out in July 2015. It got picked up by BBC1 Radio DJ Annie Mac, who made it the “Tune of the Week” on her program. Later in 2015, Mabel was signed by the American label Interscope Records, part of the Universal Music Group.

Her debut album came out in August 2019, with the title “High Expectations”. It became a hit, peaking at the #3 spot on the OCC chart in the UK, while also breaking into the famous Billboard 200 chart over in the US, at the #198 spot. In July 2022, Mabel released her second studio album, “About Last Night”. The new Mabel album reached #2 on the charts in the UK, but failed to chart on Billboard 200 in the US.

The biggest hits in the Mabel setlist to date are “Mad Love” (2019), “Don’t Call Me Up” (2019), and “Boyfriend” (also 2019). She was also featured on the 2020 hit single by DJ Tiësto “God is a Dancer”, and on the 2020 hit by Clean Bandit “Tick Tock”, along with American rapper 24kGoldn.
