Pabllo Vittar is a Brazilian drag queen and singer who has achieved phenomenal success and has shattered numerous boundaries for LGBTQ+ artists, yet to make their mark on the globe. Born Phabullo Rodrigues da Silva on November 1st, 1993, Pabllo Vittar’s life was filled with struggles that paved the path to his earth-shattering success.

Small towns in Maranhão were not easy places to grow up in. Phabullo was subjected to brutal bullying because of his delicate mannerisms and feminine voice, to the extent that someone dumped hot soup on him. Yet he found solace in singing and began singing with his Catholic church choir at age thirteen and performing at family gatherings. His mother accepted him when he came out to her at age fifteen, and she has been so ever since.

The road to becoming Pabllo Vittar began when he relocated throughout Brazil – first to Indaiatuba and then to Uberlândia, taking odd jobs at snack bars and beauty salons while still chasing his musical ambitions. His initial performances were at LGBT parades throughout Maranhão; at first, he performed under the pseudonym “Pabllo Knowles,” which was derived from Beyoncé’s name. His first experience with drag shows was at age seventeen; at eighteen, he started winning beauty pageants and establishing himself within the gay community.

It was not until 2015 that everything changed with his “Open Bar,” which was a Portuguese cover of Major Lazer’s “Lean On.” The video went viral with over a million views within four months. His “Sua Cara,” which was with Major Lazer and Anitta’s collaboration, reached 25 million views within 24 hours and found its place among the top ten viewed videos globally.

Pabllo's music blends pop with Brazilian genres like tecno brega, funk carioca, and forró, creating a sound that's uniquely his own. He's a countertenor with a distinctive nasal soprano voice that critics have both praised and debated. His six studio albums showcase his evolution, with hits that've become anthems for Brazil's LGBT community and beyond.

In 2024, Vittar broke records with “Alibi,” becoming only the second drag queen artist ever to appear on Billboard’s Top 100 with Sevdaliza and Yseult’s “Alibi.” Vittar was one of eight artists to share the stage with pop icons like Madonna and Lady Gaga at huge concerts held at Rio de Janeiro, noting that he was declared 'the world’s next big drag queen' by The New York Times.
