Pitbull Biography
Armando Christian Pérez, better known by his stage name Pitbull, is an American rapper and music producer. He was born on January 15th, 1981 in Miami, Florida. Pitbull is proud of his Cuban ancestry, as he mentions it in some of his songs. However, his childhood was far from ideal. His parents separated when he was just 3, and he stayed with his mother. Later, she kicked him out for his drug issues so he had to spend some time with a foster family in Georgia.
Music was an important part of Pitbull’s life early on. After graduating high school, he focused solely on his career as a rapper, back in Florida, where the earliests of a Pitbull concert took place. Lil Jon gave him first big break by featuring him on his 2002 album "Kings of Crunk". This led Pitbull to land a song of his own on the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack, the second installment in the blockbuster Fast & Furious movie franchise.
With his star rising, he was able to sign his first big contract with Luke Records. His first studio album was titled "M.I.A.M.I", paying homage to his home town in South Florida, which was released in August 2004. It was a moderate hit, reaching the 32nd spot on Billboard’s famous Top 200 list. On that album, he also started collaborating with fellow Floridian DJ Khaled.
His first international hit was the 2009 song "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)", which was a track on his fourth studio album (his first album that was released through his own label Mr. 305 Inc). The latest new Pitbull album is called "Libertad 548", released in 2019.
Since then, the famous Pitbull has put out such classic latin hip hop and pop hits as "Meet Me at the Hotel Room" (2009), "Give Me Everything" (2011), or "Timber" (2013). He was also featured on Jennifer Lopez’s 2011 hit single "On the Floor"; and even wrote and performed the official theme song for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
