Born in Brussels, Belgium, and famous for the hit song "Alors on danse," which became extremely popular on TikTok and all other social media platforms, Paul van Haver, also known as Stromae, is a rapper and producer, who brings to the table a mixture of EDM with rap and hip-hop.

Raised by his mother after his father's tragic death during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, Stromae attended Jesuit schools, after facing challenges in the public school system. During his school days, he formed a rap group with friends and drew inspiration from artists like Jacques Brel, son cubano, and Congolese rumba.

In 2013, his second album "Racine carrée" achieved immense commercial success, selling two million copies in France alone and spawning chart-topping singles like "Papaoutai" and "Formidable."

In 2000, Stromae initially entered the music scene as a rapper under the moniker Opsmaestro before transitioning to his now-famous stage name "Stromae," derived from the word "Maestro" by switching syllables—a technique known as verlan in French slang. At 18, he co-founded the rap group "Suspicion" with rapper J.E.D.I. in Eichhof, releasing the song and music video "Faut que t'arrête le Rap..." However, after J.E.D.I.'s departure, Stromae balanced his pursuit of music with part-time work in the hospitality industry to fund his education.

Despite academic challenges, he later enrolled in the Institut national de radioélectricité et cinématographie, where he unveiled his first EP "Juste un cerveau, un flow, un fond et un mic..."

Stromae released "Défiler" in 2018 along with a new fashion line. The song, co-composed with his brother, plays on French words to evoke themes of modeling and life's pace. In 2019, he collaborated with Coldplay on the track "Arabesque" for their album "Everyday Life."
