Born in the small city of Brownsville, in the US, Anna Mae Bullock, also known by her stage name, Tina Turner, the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll," was a world-famous singer who achieved huge success with her solo career and with the Ike Turner's band of 1956.
Tina is the youngest daughter of Floyd Richard Bullock and Zelma Priscilla. Raised in the small city of Nutbush, she grew up in a rural community where her father oversaw sharecroppers at a farm. Turner has fond memories of picking cotton with her family during her early years.
Tina, who at that time was just a young and very brave girl named Anna Mae Bullock, and her sister often went to clubs to perform. Witnessing Ike Turner's musical prowess, left a big impression on her, which led to a fateful moment when she took the stage and impressed Ike with her unique singing style. Nobody knew back then, but this important meeting was the beginning of her journey as a featured vocalist with Ike Turner's band, and the beginning of many good things that were about to happen.
Tina Turner emerged with the name introduced alongside the hit single "A Fool in Love" in 1960, reaching high positions on the music charts. The group's success continued with "It's Gonna Work Out Fine," which earned them a Grammy nomination.
