Born in the 80s in Latina, Italy, Tiziano Ferro is a singer and producer known for his breakout single "Perdono" in 2001, which propelled him to international fame. He has consistently maintained commercial success across various countries and has released Spanish versions of his albums. Ferro is recognized not only for his success within pop genre but also for his openness about personal challenges, including battles with food addiction and eating disorders during his teenage years.
In 1999, Tiziano went on tour as a backing vocalist for the Italian hip hop band Sottotono. He composed his first songs on it and later took guitar and piano lessons at a local conservatory. During his teenage years, Tiziano joined a gospel choir and performed in piano bars and karaoke contests.
In 2001, Tiziano signed with a major record label and released his debut single "Xdono" later that year. Initially received poorly, the song later became a hit, topping the Italian Singles Chart in September and earning double platinum certification for sales exceeding 100k copies. "Xdono" was featured on Ferro's debut album, Rosso Relativo, which was released the following year.
In 2003, Tiziano released his second studio album, "111," which sold over 1 million copies worldwide, topped the Mexican Albums Chart, and earned quadruple platinum certification in Italy for selling over 450k copies domestically. Following the album's success, Ferro won Best Italian Artist at the 2004 MTV Europe Music Awards in Rome.
In 2010, he publicly came out as gay, addressing struggles with depression related to self-acceptance. Despite initial concerns, his career flourished; his albums "Nessuno è solo" and "Alla mia età" achieved diamond certification in Italy, and his fifth album, "L'amore è una cosa semplice," topped the charts in 2012.
In 2016, Tiziano Ferro announced that his sixth studio album, titled "Il mestiere della vita," would be released in late 2016, a year in advance during his European arena tour's final concert. The lead single "Potremmo ritornare" debuted atop the Italian Singles Chart in October, marking Ferro's first solo number-one hit since 2008. 2 years later, the star collaborated with Ed Sheeran and Matthew Sheeran on the song "Amo solo te" ("This Is the Only Time" in English), writing lyrics for Andrea Bocelli and Ed Sheeran, featured on Bocelli's album "Sì."
Besides being extremely successful in the music universe, Tiziano has been involved in some controversy before. In 2006, he appeared on the Italian TV show Che Tempo fa and made a controversial joke about Mexican women having mustaches. This remark sparked criticism from Mexican fans, resulting in his album sales in Mexico thereafter.
As of today, Tiziano Ferro is considered to be one of Italy's top-selling artists, having sold over 20 million records worldwide.
