Tom Jones Biography

Born in Wales, Tom Jones, also known as Sir Tom Jones, is a very influential and important singer who rose to fame with hits like "Sex Bomb," in the 60s. As of 2024, Tom Jones sold over 100 million records throughout his career and performed in Las Vegas for decades. As for his music's genre, the singer is influential in many genres, from pop, all the way to country music. Tom Jones also won a Grammy and Brit Awards, was knighted in 2006, and became popular again as a coach on "The Voice UK."

Sir Tom Jones was born in 1940, in Treforest. His love for singing kept growing and the young Tom started to perform at family events and in school choirs. Despite not being a huge fan of school and any sports, Tom knew he had a talent for singing.

Once, Tom Jones described his voice as a "full-throated, robust baritone" as he aged, by 63, Tom became the frontman for Tommy Scott and the Senators, which made him start to get noticed in Wales. Even though he was going through some struggles, many friends and producers helped him break into the music scene in London. His first single, "Chills and Fever," didn't chart, but "It's Not Unusual" became a hit in 1965.

2 years later, in 67, Tom Jones made his Las Vegas where his signature style of open shirts and tight trousers became part of his act. From 69 to 71, Tom Jones hosted the successful TV variety show "This Is Tom Jones," earning a Golden Globe nomination.

In 1989, Tom received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and collaborated with Van Morrison on the 1991 album "Carrying A Torch." By 99, the album "Reload," was a huge success in the UK and sold over 4 million copies. The hit "Sex Bomb," was part of this album.

In 2007, participated in many projects, from collaborating with Joe Perry and Joss Stone to covering the Arctic Monkeys' "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor." By 2022, Tom Jones performed "I Won't Crumble With You If You Fall" on The Voice UK. Tom shared that the song resonated deeply with him as it reflected his late wife's words during her battle with lung cancer, encouraging him to carry on.
