Held annually in Joensuu, Finland, Ilosaarirock is a pop & rock music festival established in 1971, Ilosaarirock Festival, or only, Ilosaarirock, is considered to be one of Finland's oldest and Europe's second oldest active rock festivals. At its peak in 2007, it attracted 21k daily attendees and consistently sold out from 1998 to 2011. The festival features club events and side activities alongside the main performances.
Every year is estimated that over 1500 volunteers contribute to its organization, and the festival's visual identity is selected through an annual design contest. Operated by the Joensuu Pop Musicians' Association, the non-profit event's proceeds support the local music scene and artists in North Karelia.
Over the editions of the festival, heavy-weight artists and groups performed on the stages of the event, such as Sleep Token, Nightwish, Alan Walker, and others.
