Hello Cotto
One of the most prominent artists in Argentina's trap music scene, Duki, born Mauro Ezequiel Lombardo, is a singer and songwriter who rose to fame in rap battles like El Quinto Escalón. Duki's rise to fame wasn't quick nor easy, the young rapper had many struggles coming up and fought a lot to get to the successful point of earning a Latin Grammy nomination for the song "Goteo." Some hits like "Hello Cotto" helped Duki get even more famous on social media and led him to top Argentina's charts.
Duki was born in 1996 in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. From an early age and with a brother who was a sound engineer, Duki was inspired by music and was influenced by musicians like Charly García and Luis Alberto Spinetta. As his interest in music grew, Duki started to explore other bands, like Linkin Park, and some punk bands and groups that were trending in the early 2000s. His love and admiration for Eminem made him want to join the underground scene of rap battles.
Mastering the art of freestyle, in 2013, Duki won his first competition. He then found a rap crew and his name was noticed all over Argentina's underground and rap scene. In 2016, after once again winning a competition, Duki had the chance to have a studio session, where "No Vendo Trap," was created. The song quickly went viral and amassed two million views on YouTube.
In 2017, Duki signed to a record label and released "She Don't Give a Fo." With millions of views and streams on digital platforms, Duki formed the trio Modo Diablo with YSY A and Neo Pistea, releasing hits like "Quavo."
By 2019, Duki joined the Buenos Aires Trap Festival and was featured on Neo Pistea's "Tumbando el Club." The song was a huge success and hit number 3 on Argentina Hot 100. Quickly after that, Duki went on tour in the U.S., and by the end of 2019, Duki was already one of the biggest names in Argentina.
In 2020, Duki worked together with Bad Bunny, and in other projects with rap pioneers like Juicy J. Duki's recently released albums were extremely well received by the critics and even proved how innovative he can be, like in the reggaeton project "Temporada de Reggaetón."
