Formed in the UK, but with musicians from all over the world, Il Divo is a multi-national classical crossover vocal group. The group, formed in 2003, has music geniuses like Urs Bühler, from Switzerland, Sébastien Izambard from France, Steven LaBrie, and David Miller both from the U.S. The group has released multiple albums and extremely famous songs, like "Un-Break My Heart."
In 2004, The quartet recorded their debut album, "Il Divo." The album achieved double platinum in some countries in Europe. The album was later released in the U.S. and Spain only one year later. The group debuted with the single "Regresa a mí" and filmed its music video in Slovenia. Their first concert took place in NYC.
Il Divo released "Siempre," their fourth album, in 2006, recorded during their world tour. They promoted the album across the world. A live concert DVD, "Live at the Greek Theater," from their 2006 show in Los Angeles was also released. Two years later, they debuted their fifth album, "The Promise."
In 2013, Il Divo released their seventh album, "A Musical Affair," with tailored song arrangements for their voices. They performed a concert on Broadway titled Il Divo – A Musical Affair: The Greatest Songs of Broadway from November 7 to 13, 2013. The world tour started in Japan in 2014 and concluded in London that year, with a sold-out concert at Edinburgh Castle.
Unfortunately, in late 2021, Carlos Marin passed away due to COVID-19. Il Divo held a Greatest Hits Tour in 2022 in tribute to him, featuring baritone Steven LaBrie, who had not yet officially joined the group at that time.
A fun fact that you might not know is that Il Divo means "The Star."
As of today, with very impressive success in all corners of the world, the quartet Il Divo has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, popularizing operatic pop music.
