Jamie Cullum is an English jazz-pop singer, pianist, and songwriter born in Rochford, UK, widely regarded as the UK's best-selling jazz artist of all time. Blending vocal jazz and swing with a genuine crossover sensibility, he's released nine studio albums and hosted a weekly jazz show on BBC Radio 2 since 2010, becoming one of Britain's most recognizable ambassadors for the genre.
Cullum self-financed his first album with just £480 before graduating from the University of Reading and releasing Pointless Nostalgic (2002), which caught the attention of broadcasters like Michael Parkinson. That exposure led to a £1 million deal with Universal, and his 2003 album Twentysomething went platinum, becoming the best-selling jazz studio album in UK history and instantly making him the country's top-selling jazz artist.
Cullum has continued expanding his range across records like Momentum (2013) and the all-jazz Interlude (2014), the latter featuring duets with Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula. He's performed everywhere from Coachella to the White House, shared stages with Kylie Minogue and will.i.am, and picked up a Grammy nomination, two Golden Globe nominations, and multiple Brit Award nods along the way.
