Jesse & Joy Biography
Jesse & Joy is a Mexican Latin pop duo. They were formed in 2005 in Mexico City, Mexico. The founding and only members are siblings Jesse Huerta Uecke (born in 1982 in Mexico City, Mexico) and Tirzah Joy Huerta Uecke (1986, Mexico City, Mexico).
The parents in the Huerta family were big music fans, especially enjoying classic rock, soft rock, and folk music, which inspired their children to write music of their own as teenagers, and perform it on their father’s instruments. When Jesse was 21 and Joy was 18, they decided to record some home-made CD’s for fun, not as a demo or for public distribution. However, through some family friends, it got into the hands of a Warner Music Latina executive, who decided to sign them with his label in 2005.
The same year, they were featured on the local annual 24-hour TV program "Fundación Teletón". In August 2006, they released their debut album, with the title “Esta Es Mi Vida” (meaning “This is my life” in English), and under the name “Jesse & Joy”. It ended up becoming a moderate hit, reaching the #17 spot on both the Mexican Album Charts and Billboard’s Latin Pop charts in the United States. The biggest hit on the record was their debut single "Espacio Sideral".
In 2007, Jesse & Joy won a Latin Grammy award in the Best New Artist category. Also in 2007, they booked their first Jesse & Joy concert in the US, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They have put out a total of 5 studio albums during their career. The best selling of them thus far has been “Un Besito Más” from December 2015, which actually topped the Billboard Latin Albums chart in the US. Meanwhile, the latest new Jesse & Joy album came out in May 2020, with the title “Aire (Versión Día)”.
The biggest hits in the Jesse & Joy tracklist to date are “¡Corre!” (2011), “Ecos de Amor” (2015), and “Dueles” (2016).
