Ne‐Yo Concerts Setlist

Shaffer Chimere Smith, better known by his stage name Ne-Yo, is an American singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, and music producer. He was born on October 18, 1979 in Camden, Arkansas. Both of Ne-Yo’s parents were musicians. However, he was raised by only his mother after his father left. He relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada with his mom. There, Ne-Yo attended the Las Vegas Academy of Arts, and started performing under the name “GoGo”. He also joined the R&B group "The Envy", with whom he appeared on amateur night on the TV variety show “Showtime at the Apollo”. After the group disbanded, he got gigs writing music for other artists.

He signed a solo record deal with Columbia Records in 2000. He took on the new stage name “Ne-Yo” after producer Big D Evans told him that “he sees music like Neo from The Matrix”. However, while he was able to produce his first album with backing from Columbia, they dropped him before his work ever hit the shelves. One of his songs off of the shelved Ne-Yo album, “That Girl”, was remixed and rereleased by singer Marques Houston and became a hit. So, while Ne-Yo’s career as a solo artist seemed to be dead on arrival, his career as a songwriter got a boost.

His debut album as a performer came out at last in February 2006. It was titled “In My Own Words”, and was released by Def Jam Records. It also became a massive hit, topping the famous Billboard 200 chart in the US. The standout track on the record was “So Sick”. Around this time, he also started doing live Ne-Yo concert shows in big venues across America.

Since then, Ne-Yo has released 7 more studio albums, thus he has 8 in total. The best selling one among them has remained his first one, “In My Own Words” from 2006, which sold around 2.5 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new Ne-Yo album came out in July 2022, with the title “Self-Explanatory”.

The biggest hits in the Ne-Yo setlist to date are “Because of You” (2007), “Miss Independent” (2008), and “One in a Million'' (2010). He was also featured on the 2011 hit song by French EDM DJ David Guetta, along with Akon. Check where the next Ne-Yo concert is playing near you on our page above.
