Rex Orange County Concerts Setlist

Alexander James O'Connor, better known by his stage name Rex Orange County, is an English singer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter. He was born on May 4, 1998 in Grayshott, United Kingdom. At age 5, O’Connor joined his church choir. He later learnt to play the drums and the piano. At age 16, he also picked up the guitar and started to produce his own music with Apple’s Logic software. In the meantime, he attended the creative arts school BRIT School, training to become a professional drummer.

In September 2015, he self-released his debut album “Bcos U Will Never B Free” on the sound sharing sites SoundCloud and Bandcamp. His stage name, “Rex Orange County”, comes from his nickname, OC. OC, short for O'Connor, is also an acronym commonly referring to Orange County in California, US. This record gave him great exposure in the music industry. Musician and producer Two Inch Punch reached out to him, and he ended up managing him and helping him produce new music. Famed hip hop artist Tyler, the Creator also got in touch. As a result, Rex Orange County got to work on Tyler’s 2017 album “Flower Boy”.

The same year, also in 2017, he put out yet another self-released album, “Apricot Princess”. The first record of his that was made with a label was “Pony” from October 2019, whose production was backed by RCA. It became a major success, peaking at the #5 spot on the OCC chart in his home country of the UK, while also reaching the #3 spot on the famous Billboard 200 chart over in the US. The latest new Rex Orange County album came out in March 2022, with the title “Who Cares?”. It ended up topping the charts in Britain.
