Salmo Biography
Maurizio Pisciottu, also known by his stage name, Salmo, is a rapper born in Olbia in 84. He started his music career at an early age by releasing demos like "Premeditazione e dolo." The Italian rapper self-produced his first project in 2005, collaborated with rap metal band Skasico, and worked with Ed Gein. By 2009, he produced the "Merciful Bullets" EP for stoner rock band Three Pigs Trip. Salmo has released five solo albums, with three reaching number one in Italy, and sold over 3 million copies.
In 2011, Salmo released his debut studio album, "The Island Chainsaw Massacre," which brought a lot of attention to him. He contributed to the "Machete Mixtape" with notable Italian rappers and released his second album, "Death USB," in 2012, featuring several music videos. That year, he won "Best Crossover" at the MTV Hip Hop Awards and participated in "Machete Mixtape Vol II."
One year later, Salmo released his third album, "Midnite," which debuted at number one in Italy. The album had the help of artists like Noyz Narcos and Gemitaiz, collaborating in projects. Salmo released several music videos, including "The Island," and ended the year with a Christmas freestyle featuring Gemitaiz and MadMan.
By 2014, Salmo announced his fourth album and released "S.A.L.M.O. Documentary," a live album with a documentary and the new track "Mussoleeni." In 2015, Salmo directed Jovanotti's "Sabato" video and joined his tour. He released "1984" and announced "Hellvisback," which came out in 2016. The album featured Victor Kwality and Travis Barker, drummer for blink-182, reaching for a Gold status and later Double Platinum.
From 2017 to 2023, Salmo starred in the short film "Nuraghes S'Arena" and released singles like "Estate Dimmerda." By 2019, he released "Machete Mixtape 4," a collaborative album, and less than three years later, the album "Flop" was ironically named his "worst album" but topped Spotify streams. The following year, he acted in "Blocco 181" without including his music.
