Widely known within the heavy metal community, Volbeat is a band from Copenhagen, Denmark, famous for bringing a fusion of rock and roll and metal. The band's album "Beyond Hell/Above Heaven" of 2010 received widespread critical acclaim and achieved awards in Europe, went platinum in Canada, and gold status in Finland and the United States. Their latest studio album, "Servant of the Mind," was released in 2021.
Volbeat's current lineup includes vocalist and rhythm guitarist Michael Poulsen, drummer Jon Larsen, and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen. They are signed to Mascot Records and have released eight studio albums and one DVD.
Singer Michael Poulsen's first band was a death metal band. Dissatisfied with the death metal scene in 2000, the group disbanded, prompting Michael Poulsen to form a new band in 2001 with former members. This marked the beginning of Volbeat, named after his former band's album "Vol.Beat".
After gaining attention with their "Beat the Meat" demo tape, Volbeat signed with a major record label. Their debut album, "The Strength/The Sound/The Songs" in 2005, featured Michael Poulsen on vocals, Jon Larsen on drums, Franz Gottschalk on guitar, and Anders Kjølholm on bass. The album achieved success in Denmark, peaking at No. 18 on the charts and received critical acclaim, including a perfect score from RockHard magazine.
Volbeat is also known for performing in music festivals like Wacken, which made the band gain a lot of recognition in the European metal community.
In 2016 the band toured the UK in 2016 with Alter Bridge, Gojira, and Like a Storm, and in 2017, they opened for Metallica on their WorldWired Tour in the U.S. alongside Avenged Sevenfold.
One year later, the heavy metal group announced their seventh album, and in 2019, they released singles including "Parasite," and "Die to Live" featuring Neil Fallon.
In 2023, they announced parting ways with lead guitarist Rob Caggiano, with Flemming C. Lund stepping in for their Summer 2023 tour. Later that same year, the band decided not to tour in 2024. Instead, Michael Poulsen will tour with his new death metal band, Asinhell, while Volbeat focuses on working on a new album at home.
Volbeat announce a new album, "Gods of Angels Trust," along with the single "By A Monster's Hand" and a tour.
