Creed Biography

Creed is an American rock band hailing from Tallahassee, Florida. Formed in 1994, Creed became prominent during the post-grunge movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band consisted of vocalist Scott Stapp (From Orlando, Florida), guitarist Mark Tremonti (From Detroit, Michigan), drummer Scott Phillips (From Madison, Florida, and bassist Brian Marshall (From Jackson, Mississippi) (1995-2000). Their music genre can be described as a mix of alternative rock, post-grunge, and hard rock.

Creed rose to fame with their distinctive sound and powerful performances. They gained recognition by standing out among the post-grunge contenders of the '90s, becoming one of the decade's top-selling rock bands. Through their uplifting melodies combined with edgy lyrics, Creed was able to dominate the late '90s commercial rock scene, selling over 20 million albums worldwide.

Some of Creed's most famous songs include "Higher," known for its anthemic chorus and soaring vocals, and "With Arms Wide Open," a heartfelt ballad that resonated with listeners. Their other notable tracks include "My Sacrifice," "One Last Breath," and "What's This Life For." These songs showcased Creed's ability to craft emotionally charged rock anthems that struck a chord with their audience.

Creed's discography includes successful albums such as "My Own Prison" (1997), "Human Clay" (1999), and "Weathered" (2001). These albums not only solidified their popularity but also earned critical acclaim for their powerful songwriting and intense musical performances. With each release, Creed demonstrated their ability to create impactful and memorable rock music.

Scott Stapp is inspired by musicians like Otis Redding, Donny Hathaway, Def Leppard, U2, The Doors, and Led Zeppelin. On the other hand, guitarist Mark Tremonti draws influence from thrash metal bands such as Slayer, Metallica, Exodus, and Forbidden.

In 2011, Billboard said Creed was the 18th-best artist of the 2000s. However, in 2013, readers of Rolling Stone magazine voted Creed as the worst band of the 1990s.

That's true. I've learned that the main demographics for tickets purchasers for Creed are those who are between 25-35 years old. That was something it never even crossed my mind.
