Maroon 5 Concerts Setlist

Maroon 5 is an American pop band. It was founded in 1994 in Los Angeles, California. The founding members were lead vocalist Adam Levine (born in 1979 in Los Angeles, CA), keyboardist Jesse Carmichael (1979, Boulder, Colorado), bassist Mickey Madden (1979, Austin, Texas), and drummer Ryan Dusick (1977, Los Angeles, CA). The four original members met while attending the same high school in Los Angeles.

Their band was initially called “Kara's Flowers”. They were discovered by independent music producer Tommy Allen while they were performing at a beach party in Malibu. This ultimately led to them releasing their first studio album, "The Fourth World" in August 1997, even before they graduated from high school. However, the album was a commercial flop, selling only around 5,000 copies. As a result, they were dropped by their manager and the band almost broke up.

Levine and Carmichael moved to New York City for college, while Madden and Dusick stayed in California. After getting their respective degrees, the band reunited in 2001. They recorded a demo tape but a series of labels rejected it. At last, an impressed producer at Octone gave them a second chance, and recruited guitarist James Valentine for them so Levine can focus on the vocals alone. Also, they changed the band’s name. From this point on, they were introduced as “Maroon 5”.

Their first album under their new name came out in June 2002, with the title “Songs About Jane”. Fortunately, this eventually became a massive success, peaking at the #6 spot on the famous Billboard 200 chart in the United States. It was what the industry calls a “sleeper hit”, as it only became popular sometime after its release. The biggest hit single on the tracklist was “This Love”. 

However, it wasn’t all good news for the band. Their original drummer, Ryan Dusick, had to quit due to his wrist and shoulder injuries in 2006. He was replaced by Matt Flynn.

Since then, the band has released 6 more studio albums. Thus they have 7 in total, or 8 if you count the one from 1997 that was under the “Kara’s Flowers” name. The best selling among them was the first one, "Songs About Jane", followed by the second one, “It Won't Be Soon Before Long” from 2007. Thei latst new Maroon 5 album came out in June 2021, with the title “Jordi”.

To date, biggest hits  in the Maroon 5 setlist are the aforementioned "This Love" (2002), "One More Night" (2012), "Sugar" (2015), and "Girls Like You" (2018) featuring rapper Cardi B. Their lead singer, Levine, was featured on the popular 2015 song by R. City “Locked Away”. 

The Maroon 5 concert was the headline event in the halftime show at the 2019 Super Bowl, played between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams. The current members are vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist Jesse Carmichael, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, second keyboardist PJ Morton, and rhythm and bass guitarist Sam Farrar.
