The Offspring Concerts Setlist

The Offspring is an American punk rock band. They were formed in 1984 in Garden Grove, California. The founding members were lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Bryan "Dexter" Holland (born in 1985 in Garden Grove, California), and bassist and backup vocalist Gregory “Greg K.” Kriesel (1965, Glendale, California).

Holland started playing music together with bassist Greg Kriesel in their new band “Manic Subsidal”. Holland originally played the drums. The line-up changed a lot in the early years of the band, while they recorded no music, only performed at early live The Offspring concert shows and practiced in their garage. In 1986, the name was changed to the now well-known “The Offspring”, based on a small-budget horror movie’s title, “The Offspring: They Were Born to Kill”. The band later released a song with the same title. The same year, in 1986, they released their first single, a punk song called “I'll Be Waiting”. At that point, Holland was the lead singer, Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman was on the lead guitar, and James Lilja was on the drums.

In 1988, they managed to land a contract with the record label Nemesis Records. Their self-titled debut album, “The Offspring”, came out in June 1989. The line-up only saw one change compared to their debut single: the new drummer was Ron Welty, who was only 16 when he joined the band. However, the album didn’t see any commercial success until its re-issue in 1995.

The first time The Offspring hit mainstream success was with the release of their third studio album, “Smash” in April 1994. It peaked at the #4 spot on the famous Billboard 200 list. The standout track on the record was “Come Out and Play”.

Since then, the California-based rock stars have released 7 more full studio albums, thus they have 10 in total. The best selling one among them remained their 3rd album, the aforementioned “Smash”, with 11 million copies sold worldwide. Meanwhile, the latest new The Offspring album is titled “Let the Bad Times Roll”, which came out in April 2021.

The Offspring’s biggest hits to date are “The Kids Aren't Alright” (1998), “Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)” (also 1998), “Want You Bad” (2000), and “Your Gonna Go Far, Kid” (2008). They’re considered to be one of the frontrunners of the punk rock trend in the 1990’s, along with fellow Californian bands Green Day and Rancid.
