Born in South Africa but raised in Australia, Troye Sivan Mellet, also known by his stage name Troye Sivan is a pop star and internet sensation. Troye started his music and television career very early when he performed at the Channel Seven Perth Telethon. In 2006, he sang a duet with Guy Sebastian, the winner of Australian Idol. He also reached the finals of StarSearch 2007. His first EP, "Dare to Dream," came out in June 2007.
Troye caught the public attention with his incredible voice, and by 2013, he signed to EMI Australia, a Universal Music Australia label. In 2014, he launched "TRXYE," a five-song EP. The EP quickly climbed to the top spot on iTunes charts in more than 55 countries, and also debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 the next week, marking Troye's first Top 10 album.
By 2015 Troye had a huge boom all over the internet, his second major-label EP, "Wild." The song "Youth" reached No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. During 2015 and 2016 he toured the whole world to support his new EP, and by 2017 Troye collaborated with Martin Garrix to release the song "There for You," which has millions of streams on Spotify.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Troye released "Take Yourself Home," the debut single from his fifth EP titled "In a Dream."
In 2021, Troye's collaboration "You" with Regard and Tate McRae hit the shelves. The track dominated Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart for eight consecutive weeks. Troye's solo single "Angel Baby" made its debut on September 10. It gained viral popularity in Southeast Asia, reaching the top 5 in multiple countries.
In 2023, Troye released the music video for "Rush," the main single for "Something to Give Each Other." The video was highly praised for its bold portrayal of queer culture.
Aside from his awesome music, Troye also loves to act in movies. In 2008, Troye was chosen to play the young James Howlett in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He landed the role after videos of his telethon performance were shared on YouTube. If you have seen the movie, you might remember Little Troye playing as Little Wolverine. He was also part of the Western Australian run of Samuel Beckett's surreal play Waiting for Godot.
