Born in Phoenix, USA, Alec Shane Benjamin, also known by his stage name, Alec Benjamin is a singer famous for the 2018 hit "Let Me Down Slowly." The song became a huge hit worldwide and entered the top 40 charts in over 25 different countries. Alec began writing songs at the early age of 13, by that same time he learned to play guitar in school. Alec's first EP came out in 2013, named "America." Alec's influences range from musicians like Jason Mraz to rappers like Kendrick Lamar.

After being dropped by his record label, Alec went on a very brave path and self-funded his tour of Europe. He opened for Marina Kaye and Lea and promoted his music by handing out business cards. By 2018, he released his mixtape "Narrated for You," which contained the big hit "Let Me Down Slowly." The song was later re-released with the singer Alessia Cara.

His debut album came out in 2020, "These Two Windows," reached number 8 on Billboard's Top Album Sales chart and was followed by the album "(Un)Commentary," two years later. By 2023, Alec opened for John Mayer on part of his tour.

An interesting fact is that Alec's father had many interest in Chinese culture and medicine, which led Alec to release Mandarin versions of his songs, inspired by his father's works. He also collaborated with Chinese actress Zhao Lusi (赵露思) on a Mandarin version of "Water Fountain."
