Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez, also known as Juanes, was born on August 9, 1972, in Medellín, Colombia. He is a renowned musician, guitarist, singer, and songwriter and has solidified his position as a notable figure in Latin rock. Juanes has earned 26 Latin Grammy Awards and sold over 15 million records worldwide. This makes him one of the top-selling Latin music artists ever.
His journey to fame began with his early involvement in the rock band Ekhymosis, where he honed his musical talents before embarking on a successful solo career. Juanes' solo endeavors propelled him into the spotlight, garnering international acclaim and recognition for his distinctive musical style and unwavering commitment to addressing social and political issues through his artistry. When Juanes was a teenager, he liked rock and metal bands like The Beatles and Metallica.
The band released seven more albums and played with famous acts like Alejandro Sanz, Aterciopelados, and Ricky Martin. However according to Juanes, the band couldn't become popular outside of Colombia and stayed mostly known in Colombia. In 1998, Juanes decided to break up the band so he could focus on his solo career.
Among Juanes' most famous songs are "A Dios le Pido," "La Camisa Negra," "Me Enamora," and "Es Por Ti." Albums such as "Un Día Normal" and "Mi Sangre" have exemplified his ability to craft timeless.
Juanes talks openly in his music and to the media about the problems of violence and unfairness in Colombia. He's spoken up about the victims of the Colombian civil war, saying, "These are your people, young people, people with families, and four or five of them are dying every day."
