Born in the 80s, David Christian Bongartz, also known by his stage name, David Garrett, is a violinist from Germany. David is known for his influence and contributions to classical and crossover music. His journey in the classical music universe started at an early age. At the age of four, David started playing violin and one year later the young David was already competing. At the age of nine he debuted at the music festival Festival Kissinger Sommer, and quickly after that, David started working with Polish violinist Ida Haendel.
A very interesting fact is that David received his first Stradivarius violin at 11 from German president Richard von Weizsäcker after performing for him. By the age of 13, in the mid-90s, David signed with Deutsche Grammophon as their youngest soloist. He later performed with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and at Expo 2000, and at 21, he was invited to the BBC Proms.
By his early 20s, David was already influential on the classical music scene in Germany and Europe. His album "Encore," of 2008, aimed to interest young people in classical music. He then played at the Royal Variety Performance in 2011 and joined the Independent Music Awards panel.
Throughout his very successful career, David also had some special participation in other projects, for example, he performed at the UEFA Champions League Final, announced a Crossover Tour in 2014, and performed at the Formula 1 Eifel Grand Prix in 2020.
